Telehealth Counselling

A telehealth counselling appointment with one of our therapists is just like any other appointment you have with your therapist.

The only difference is, instead of being in the same room, you will use an online platform (like Zoom and Skype) or telephone for your therapy session.

If you are currently experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety, are feeling overwhelmed or you are socially isolated, telehealth counselling could be a good option for you because it is accessible from your computer and phone.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is a health service that is delivered by a video or telephone consultation.
Instead of having a face to face appointment with your therapist, a Telehealth appointment occurs via video or telephone.

Previously Telehealth was restricted to certain geographical locations. However, as part of the Australian Government’s response to Covid-19, the Telehealth service has now been extended to cover a wider range of people within the community.
Telehealth aims to ensure continued access to Mental Health Services for those who need it most.

What is Telehealth psychology?

Telehealth Counselling

Telehealth has been shown to overcome barriers within the mental health service sector caused by multiple factors such as natural disasters i.e. COVID-19, the distance between the health service provider and the client, access to reliable transport and a busy schedule where face to face appointments are not possible.

Seeking online counselling can help you to process a difficult situation in your life or come to terms with trauma you have experienced.

Everyone’s need for counselling is unique to them.

Seeking counselling online with Vision Counselling and Psychology will enable you to access a qualified mental health professional who can assist you in dealing with emotional issues that may have been holding you back from experiencing a fuller and happier life.

About Telehealth Counselling Appointments

During 2020 and 2021, we saw a large increase in the use of telehealth services for therapy. In 2022, PsychCentral has reported that the expansion of Telehealth will be one of the biggest trends in mental health.

At Vision Counselling and Psychology we recognise that every person’s life is diverse and unique including yours.

Many people live in regional areas or work FIFO or are unable to attend appointments in person.

You may opt for a telehealth or online appointment because:

  • You are currently in social isolation due to COVID-19
  • You find a convenient appointment time that suits your life and situation
  • You are able to access counselling appointments quickly
  • You are unable to physically get to an office location
  • You are living in a remote or rural location
  • You would prefer to have counselling from the comfort of your own home

Preparing for your Telehealth Counselling Appointment

We recommend that you prepare your surroundings in preparation for your appointment. Because it is important that you are in a comfortable, private space where you will not be disturbed.

Consider your space as a therapeutic setting. Ensure that is quiet, confidential, safe and comfortable.
